The Twitch-It is a revolutionary new deer decoy that imitates the twitching motion used by deer to communicate.
The twitching motion is used by "hot" does during the rut to signal their readiness to mate.
Bring the most wary bucks into shooting range with this creative new
deer decoy!
Why The Twitch It Deer Decoy Works
I always thought that a white tail twitching action had tremendous significance for deer communication. Ever notice when hunting on a green field that the deer that are out in the field are the best indicator that other deer are approaching the field? When a deer suddenly looks up and stares into the woods, you can expect to see another deer approach from that direction shortly. Consider this; a deer's camouflage is as good or better than most commercially available camo patterns. Since deer can't see us in camo ( Especially
LongLeaf Camo ), then why can deer obviously see other deer so easily? The answer lies in that white patch on their tail and rump. A tail twitching motion looks like waving a white flag, and they pick up on that movement of white almost instantly. Have you ever been up a tree especially during the rut, and used a grunt call? Most of the time when I see a buck passing at 60, 70 yards and beyond, I can call to him using a grunt call, and he will usually stop and look in my direction for a few seconds, but more than half the time, he resumes his original path. For years I wondered what was going on until one day it hit me. There are lots of sounds in the woods, and some of them can be very similar to the sound made by a grunt call. Trees rubbing together in the wind is one example. Deer have learned that sounds that are similar to a grunt sound are not always made by a deer. So what do you suppose they do? They look in the direction of the sound, and expect to see a white tail twitch. If they stare for a few seconds and no tail twitch is apparent, then they probably assume that the sound was something else. If they see a white tail twitch they approach and investigate to see if its a hot doe or not. That explains why so many
of the bucks I see and call to, seem a little interested at first, but then rapidly loose interest and resume their travels. They don't see the obvious key that tells them the sound was made by a doe or at least another deer. The confirmation provided by the sight of the
Twitch It Deer Decoy, is usually enough to fool even the wariest of old bucks. And of course hanging up 2 or 3
Twitch It Deer Decoys in open woods, near thick cover will allow those bucks who are traveling just inside that cover to see the Twitch Its easily. And that trick will lure them out of the heavy cover where you can see them and hopefully get a shot.

Which feather deer decoy is best for your particular hunting situation - wide or narrow? Narrow feathers will "twitch" at a higher frequency. Typically hot does twitch their
tails more "urgently" and quickly when they are ready to breed. Some
feather deer decoys we ship are wide and some are narrow. You can dip a wide feather in hot water and groom the feathers down in order to make it twitch more rapidly. The reverse procedure can also be performed whenever you want a wider feather. Simply dip the feather in hot water and groom the feather out to a wider position. Since our feathers are waterproof, very little drying time is required before you can hunt with the feather
